On Friday of this week, the President’s Task Force on the Postal Service is expected to release its report. Not much has been written about what it might say, but there are plenty of indications.
In June, the Trump Administration released a document entitled “Delivering Government Solutions in the 21st Century: Reform Plan and Reorganization Recommendations.” This Reform Plan, which was prepared primarily by the Office of Management and Budget, would restructure almost every element of the federal government, including the Postal Service.
When it comes to the section on the Post Office, the Reform Plan is clear about the ultimate goal: “This proposal would restructure the United States Postal System to return it to a sustainable business model or prepare it for future conversion from a Government agency into a privately-held corporation.”
In other words, turn the Postal Service into a profit-making entity, then sell it.

It clear to anyone that works at the Usps “way to many management”
Where I work in Charlotte we have plenty of people in non bargain positions walining around doing god knows what. There is a group of people in what they call in plant support …. what a waste of resources
By law, a buyout max is $15,000
I laugh that they blame Trump August 8, 2018 PO Mismanagement released its financial results for this quarter…..lost another 1.3 Billion. (annualized that’s $5.2 Billion Kiddies, add the fact they have no money for tractor trailer cabs or letter carrier vehicles only makes it more obscene) they are in hock for over 212 Billion in liabilities since 2007…….good news is we still have 110,000 PO mismanagers, while Government Accounting Office said they reduced the workers 40% since 2007…..oh yeah its all Trumps fault! what a bunch of fanooks! just give me my 40K buyout so I can get away from these losers. po unions helped them destroy the place by being quiet……silence is one’s consent! and the po village idiot Brennen wants to help fix it….boy is that rich. Trump fire the fool!
May the farce be with you
UPS is private… Their drivers make $100,000 + sounds good to me!
Of course no word yet from the NALC. I doubt this will happen any time soon, if ever. The public has been remarkably supportive of the Postal Service, and it bears noting that if the service continues to crumble PMG Incompetent Brennan and her lackeys may soon not be able to depend on the good will of the people, seeing as how major cities like Houston and the metro area often go days without deliveries and getting nothing in return but empty promises. And that’s all they’ll get, at least while this corrupt menace is the PMG.
But Trump lovers who work for the USPS, when will it occur to you, if ever, that he and the Republicans you adore and idol worship are out to destroy you and your families? Nothing seems to get through to you because you refuse to accept responsibility for your mistakes and that includes constantly supporting the very horrible criminals who mean you the most harm. For some, and many I knew personally, racial hatred and intolerance was more important than just about any other factor. There are millions who are dead broke suffering massive debts and other indignities but cannot be told their job security, good wages and family should come ahead of any other consideration. Yet states full of absolute brainwashed GOP morons gleefully vote for and support right to work laws that all but guarantee low wages, piss poor benefits if any, unaffordable insurance and no job security whatsoever. And what really pisses ME off was the scabs who got all the benefits and advantages of that of dues paying letter carriers and never had to foot a goddamn dime.
It is because of federal law that the NALC and the other unions had to let these leeches get everything for nothing, and it’s high time those laws were overturned.
I can understand not having a closed shop; however, if a cheapscrew GOP lover, and they’re always GOP, wants to be a scab, then the contract and applicable benefits that come with union membership should not be given him or her. This means EVERYTHING:
No disciplinary protection If management wants to can your ass for missing a scan, whether it was your first time or not, they are allowed to and any other offense they can come with an excuse to throw you out.
No Article 8 (NALC) privileges No OTDL lists for you. No guaranteed minimum hours. So if you’re a regular scab and they decide to send you home after you case your route so a half price CCA can carry it, you can’t do a damn thing about it.
No seniority privileges Oh, a holiday weekend is coming up? Why, I believe that’s part of Article 8 and most local agreements. Sorry, scab. You can get called in on your long weekend or holiday and tough luck.
No equal payment Management can pay whatever they think you’re worth. Better get a second job.
No insurance through the USPS system You can get Blue Cross for much higher private insured premiums, but no Mail Handlers, NALC, APWU or other union underwritten plans.
No job security Volume drops during the summer – gotta cut some workers. See ya.
Two weeks vacation when they tell you No accruing AL. You don’t get annual or sick leave. Miss a few days of work, and bonjour.
Sound mean? Well, every single item here was fought for by unions over the decades, and many literally fought and died for the rights to the simplest demands, like eight hour days, banishing child labor, and getting two days off a week or overtime pay in lieu thereof, not to mention job security, good wages and a pension. Yet you, Mr. or Mrs. Scab see fit to take these benefits for nothing and let your fellow union co-workers foot the bill because you’re too cheap or Republican brainwashed to appreciate and pay your fair share. It’s theft, pure and simple, and morally you are no better than some meth head who goes around knocking off convenience stores. And maybe most ironically, if the USPS is ever on the ropes and gets saved, it’ll be through the efforts of Democrats and unions, not to mention the public. It will not stand a chance with the likes of you.
No surprise here, this “task force” is stacked with Republicans who will echo the Drump Administration’s proposal to transition it to privatization.
I notice President was saying the tax payer doesn’t want to “subsidize” Postal workers health care, however the tax payer can subsidize the farmer costing 12 billion, can subsidize many American business. He wants to create coal mining and factory jobs while he wants to kill Postal jobs! the Postal worker that voted for the “great” leader will benefit when their job, retirement, and health care is cut. Be careful of what you ask for. You may get what you want! When everything is cut from your job and benefits don’t worry just get a job in coal mine or factory. And if that doesn’t work out enlist in the Navy.
Watch out. Trumpie bear is lurking.
