To date, 40 postal workers have contracted the coronavirus — many more at home on mandatory quarantine

USPS has instead promised to make standard surgical masks and gloves available to workers upon request.

To date, 40 postal workers have contracted the virus. Many more are home on mandatory quarantine as they may have come in contact with infected individuals.

The Postal Service has committed to keeping the mail operational, noting the agency is “part of the nation’s critical infrastructure” by delivering medicines, Social Security checks and online purchases. In a statement, USPS said that it makes shelter-in-place and other social distancing restrictions possible. It stressed there is no evidence that COVID-19 is being spread through the mail.

Still, USPS did not rule out the possibility of shutting down operations in some areas, as it might during a hurricane or wildfire.

  1. We have asbestos all over our post office building management did nothing , OSHA did nothing asbestos will kill you if it gets in your lungs. Covid 19 you have a high rate of survival and there treating it like the black plague. Don’t get me wrong it’s bad but asbestos is deadly.

  2. This just in…. Toledo post office, just like every other post office, is not concerned with the safety of postal workers

  3. Impossible to keep a safe distance at the counter people mailing nonessential things it’s such a joke constant exchange of money packages something needs to be done

  4. I heard a rumor employees that are quarantine for possible exposure are getting Administration Leave. Is this true. If true does that also go for employees that have to go in quarantine because they are medically high risk.

    • Why is it that each facility doesn’t check employee’s temperature when entering each facility. BEM’s and maintenance have hand held scanners for heat in the building or for checking bearing’s. That’s if they really cared about the employee’s and stability of each facility to be safe, that’s what they keep saying at standups?
