USPS announces Stamps Now Pilot Program for large mailers

USPS has initiated a new process to get stamps quickly and efficiently into the hands of large mailers.

Starting immediately, large volume mailers can purchase stamps directly from the Postal Service’s Stamp Fulfillment Services (SFS) and choose how quickly they wish to receive their orders.

Customers can use a 1-2 day “emergency process” designed to supply a large stamp order for pickup at a local Post Office. A second option is a 2-3 day order delivered to the mailer’s address.

Below are details on the two service options:

  • Option one (an emergency order) will be processed within eight hours of receipt and will be expedited to the mailer’s local postal facility for pickup. A standard handling fee of $1.75 will apply. Initially, such emergency orders are limited to one order per quarter, per mailer/customer.
  • Option two stamp orders will be processed within 24 hours of receipt and sent to a mailer’s address. Orders will arrive in 2-3 business days. A standard handling fee of $1.75 will be applied to each order. Mailers who select Express Mail service to their addresses must pay appropriate postage and handling fees.

Mailers who wish to participate must set up automatic clearinghouse account or wire transfer money to SFS. For additional information, contact Lisa Albright (816-545-1282) or Linda Houghtaling (816-545-1235) at SFS.

During the first 90 days of this new process, USPS will evaluate its effectiveness and convenience to customers.
