USPS awards $93 million contract for construction of mail processing, maintenance facilities in Portland Oregon

USPS has awarded a contract for the performance of design and construction of a new 789,000 sq. ft. Processing & Distribution Center (P&DC) and a new 28,000 sq. ft. Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) to be constructed on a 47 acre site owned by the Postal Services in Portland, Oregon.

Reader note:  This plant is HUGE and will likely take all originating mail in Oregon and Washington plus the Central Forwarding System (CFS) for those two states. The 2 day and 3 day First Class Mail (FCM) delivery standard makes it feasible. It may also process destinating mail for these two states.
