Small Package Sorting System (SPSS) Optical Character Recognition (OCR)/Video Coding System (VCS) (SPSS-VCS/OCR)

USPS has awarded a noncompetitive contract for its optical character recognition software, project management services,  installation and training services for the Small Package Sorting System Optical Character Recognition/Video Coding System (SPSS-OCR/VCS) production deployment through April 28, 2016.

USPS awarded the contract to Planet Intelligent Systems, located in El Dorado, California. The value of the contract is  $1,696,128.

According to USPS, Planet Intelligent Systems had provided similar goods and services during performance of its pilot SPSS deployment contract. USPS said Planet Intelligent Systems gained a level of expertise and familiarity with the SPSS program which developed during performance of that contract. The familiarity with the SPSS program positioned “Planet Intelligent Systems to complete required work necessary in alignment with critical operational timelines with the least amount of technical and schedule risk to the Postal Service.”
