The U.S. Postal Service maintains a fleet of over 212,000 vehicles (approximately 142,000 are Long Life Vehicles (LLV) . As part of our Fleet Maintenance Program, the Postal Service is looking toward the retread tire industry to assist in reducing our vehicle maintenance costs.
The U.S. Postal Service intends to use its tire casings (New tires are currently purchased from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company) for retreading to fulfill its retreaded tire requirements to the extent possible.
The Postal Service intends to purchase a minimum of 50,000 and maximum of 1,000,000 retread tires.

USPS awarded Oliver Rubber Company, LLC, located in Greenville, SC , a contract worth over $41 millionĀ The length of the contract will be for three (3) years with 2 (2) two (2) year options not to exceed seven (7) years.
