Capital Metro Area VP Dave Fields will retire Oct. 3.

Capital Metro Area VP Dave Fields
Fields began his career as a letter sorting machine operator in Bristol, TN. During more than three decades with USPS, Fields managed eight districts and four areas, as well as several headquarters-based projects. He also served as a plant manager, director of field operations, and director of Marketing and Communications.
As the Capital Metro Area VP since 2011, Fields has overseen gains in service performance and scanning rates, repeatedly earning first place among all areas in weekly scanning performance rankings. He also has managed several high-profile pilot projects in his area, including gopost and the Amazon proof-of-concept project.
PMG Pat Donahoe said one of Fields’ priorities throughout his career was improving customer service. “We first worked together during the mid-1990s, when we both were managing in major metropolitan areas, Dave in Chicago while I was in Washington, DC,” he recalled. “I know his experience in Chicago served him well, as every district he managed in the following years recorded service performance improvements.”
Fields received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Postal Service’s Diversity Award, the Board of Governors Award in 1996 and the Deputy Postmaster General Award in 2008. Fields plans to begin his retirement in the Charlotte, NC, area.
Bail, bail, mayday, I repeat, mayday…have lost all control…deploying ejection NOW! So long suckas.
Character will be replaced by same style alpha ++++.
darsco you are 100 per cent correct. Terminal warts.
good riddance, he is an evil mean sob, if there is a such thing as karma he will get what he deserves in the end.
I heard his telecomfrence talk to the distric last week and all he kept talking about was how carriers were stealing overtime for their BMW’s their Mercedes their kids in college and their big fancy houses with pools…how about this Dave the carriers are forced all this overtime because their are forced to double up on routes just to deliver the mail you idiot! Get off the phone and come on down and walk into these southern stations and see how many vacant routes they all have every damn day without a body on them….see how many carriers are being forced to work thwir days off to get the mail delivered cause 12 routes per station is a bit much…..Just walk out the door now and maybe we can afford to pay to hire 20 newly hired CCA’s per city and get these routes covered and delivered each and everyday before 11pm like their doing in Newport News. ….Just Go already nobody cares!
im sure the good ole boy network already has his replacement in mind, as well as the replacement’s replacement, nothing changes, everything remains the same. why not get rid of all the talking heads, and replace them with the actual employees who move the mail!
Oh I almost forgot. …Ms. Harper and R Shaw are salivating for your position so do one thing right in your career and PLEASE ABOLISH your VP position and save the postal service some money!!!
Congratulations to Dave for keeping this district the most understaffed in carriers and getting the overtime up to the highest its ever been…..and let’s all not forget he did this all in 2 short years!!!!! Kudo’s Dave not abolish your position on your way out you piece of crap!!!!! What a waste! !!!
Sad statement, when an exec. earning a six figure salary, gets accolades for something as trivial as scanning.
Micromanagement at it’s best.
Good riddance. Another useless, has nothing to do with the movement of the mail, overpaid and underworked position.
Take Russ Gardner with you Dave, please
