7/20/15 – USPS released the following statement regarding “Providing convenient customer access to postal products and services” and privatizing the Postal Service:
The Postal Service remains committed to providing convenient customer access to postal products and services. Claims of privatization are false and misleading. We have no interest in privatizing the Postal Service. We are looking to grow our business, to provide expanded access to products and services through retail partners, as well as in our own locations. By locating postal services inside established businesses, we are helping customers save time, and in many cases, have the benefit of longer hours seven days a week than at regular Post Offices.
Chuck you are crazy. The union are killing the USPS. Wake up…
Actually,29 states have indenpendently raised their minimum-wage well above the national minimun of $7.25 per-hr., as have many munipalities. Yes 2day, the NY state governor approved a $15.00 hourly wage 4 some fast food workers, which is effective Jan1,2018 in NYC and Jan.1,2021 , though out the entire state. The cost of living is considerably more in Manhattan, NY than Manhattan, KS. Should minimum really be the same nationwide.
Unqualified Managers proliferate the organization. Also, way too many. Returning them to the Craft in the last contract should have been part of the PSE, MHA agreements. All you need to do is see the lines at all the Post Offices and the reductions of operating hours while private businesses expand theirs that makes the goal of privatization obvious. Tired of the lies. Reducing Standards has already pushed customers away….restoration will only bring back a percentage of customers but must be done along with the other obvious ridding of the prefunding “joke”. The organization IS profitable in spite of the top heavy bureaucracy… imagine if We trimmed the bureaucracy too?
If the USPS was serious about competing, they would have implemented scanning, sold online money orders, gave competitive rates for online sellers 15 years ago. They should have embraced e commerce and ran with it instead of crying about mail volume dying from email. Instead they stick with the same dated business model and will be crying the same song when Amazon finds cheaper ways to ship.
USPS not trying to privatize? The lies are getting more stupid every day. It’s actually kind of insulting that they might think they’re tricking anyone. What a low opinion USPS has of its employees! Funny, I never heard that on the pep talk videos where the PMG was thanking us for what a fine job we were doing and at the same time trying to stab all of us in the back.
Chuck,
Its my sad duty to inform the public the only time you can wake-up is from a sleep or dose.
The U.S. public is not asleep. They are seriously out of touch with reality. So much is based on erroneous information with bad intentions grounded in secrecy.
(EX)
Staples, and the USPS, convenience, based lies. The intent is for the public so their mouth says. Yet next door is a U.S. postal service
and a Staples Supply Superstore. Go figure that.
. Now, in several cities there is a U.S. Postal Service station next door or on the same sidewalk as a Staples store.
When will the people in this country wake up and realize Unions built the middle class in America! Unions are not a bad thing! The republicans have continually given tax breaks to the wealthy and have stifled wages in this country for the working class. Wake up America!

No private company wants 2 inherit the massive USPS management bureaucracy, that politics will never permit their removal. And there’s no worthwhile profits in 2015 4 letters and magazines when digital is far cheaper. Besides, FedEx, UPS, even DHL r very happy using the USPS infrastructure; rather investing in their own. Postal was profitable circa 1985. Nowadays, it’s just a chant 4 those who r incapable of thinking of anything better.
With all the law suites that have been filed by the unions against the postal service for contracting out work, the service may have lost nearly $2 billion in the last few years. This includes the actual settlements, payments to contractors, attorney fees and other related court cost.
This is just a rough estimate on my part, maybe the unions can give us a more accurate number.
Your simple idea is much above any of managements head. Whenever its decided the managerial staff are at fault, they must be held accountable for all grievances against the contract, and the grievant will be compensated by said Supervisor.
Follow the Book or else.
Well, I’m convinced.
“Postal Services” inside retailers done by NON-POSTAL employees
(minimum wage retail workers) isn’t a step towards privatization?
Helloooooo people! I got a bridge I want to sell you! Postal management
must be getting a lot of negative feedback to come out with this
statement. Non-postal employees handling the mail = NO SANCTITY OF THE MAIL!
If it was only the convenience they were after there would be actual
Postal employees working at their “convenient” locations!
The goal when the “Transformation Plan” was hatched under Jack Potter was to outsource as much of the operations,(retail, transportation and mail processing) as they could get away with. Why was Donahoe lobbying Congress to take USPS employees out of FEHB and start a USPS management run healthcare system? so that it would be easier to privatize.Don’t believe anything USPS management says. And degrading service by shrinking the networks is not the way to grow business.
I have no problem with being taken over by UPS or Federal Express……..as long as they do not take any low IQ, uneducated postal mismanager bureaucrats as part of the deal. let them pool their money and start their own delivery business lol. I would just love to have the chance to get UPS or FDX stock as a employee perk. now I have to watch po mismanagement get all the higher paying jobs and 6th day pay while they cut our OT and lose over 80 billion since 2009.
Democrats= Communist Party USA! Donald Trump 2016-Make America Great Again!!!!!
Sad when a union worker doesn’t realize that non union shops make a lot less money and have fewer benefits than a union workers do. The GOP not only has kept minimum wage from going up the last few years, they are trying to eliminate minimum wage all together, to compete with low cost countries like China.
