CHESTER COUNTY, SC (WBTV) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash along Interstate 77 in Chester County.
South Carolina Highway Patrol believes the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound when it crossed into the median and hit the pick up head-on.
A representative from the United States Postal Service said the tractor trailer was a USPS contract worker and en route to Charlotte from a facility in Columbia. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment, and is expected to recover.
Some mail was reportedly damaged. Postal inspectors were on the scene of the crash. The representative says workers are making “every effort” to recover mail that is readable and deliverable.
