There’s still time for letter carriers and Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) employees to submit ideas to help USPS design its next generation of postal delivery vehicles.
The Postal Service is seeking employee input to develop new vehicles to replace its aging fleet and accommodate increasing package volume.
Here are a few of the most common ideas received so far:
- Increase the size of the vehicle to accommodate more packages;
- install shelving units, fans and a keyless entry system; and,
- increase the height of the vehicle so employees can stand up in the back.
Letter carriers and VMF employees are encouraged to submit ideas to their supervisors or managers. Each delivery unit and VMF will compile the input and submit the best ideas in several categories.
Submissions are due by close of business Thursday, July 17.
These were due on Thursday? Good grief, they handed them out Wednesday morning in my office. I sure didn’t get any time to fill it out let alone think about it. Oh well, we all know it as a sham anyways…55425.
Long life vehicles have never been safe to drive. I hope the new vehicles are TESTED in snow, rain, fall (when leaves are falling). Hope new vehicles have blind spot warning lights.
