Video: USPS delivering packages on Sunday and Christmas Day

The Postal Service will be delivering packages today through Christmas Day in hopes of getting people’s special deliveries to where they need to go in time for Christmas.

It’s something you rarely see on a Sunday. Postal workers loading up their mail trucks and hitting the streets, going door-to-door delivering packages.

“A lot more stuff, a lot more, almost everything is priority now,” Michael FitzGerald said. For over 26 years he’s been delivering mail around St. Pete Beach.

Even though he’s off most Sundays, he knows this month every day is delivery day.

“We only do the Sunday thing like this before Christmas, a couple weekends before Christmas to try and clear out, because we have the extra heavy parcel load,” FitzGerald said.

  1. This is usually because the label has been printed and the parcel has yet to be deposited with USPS or it is still with one of the shipping firms and has not been turned over to USPS. The wording in the tracking makes it appear that USPS has the parcel when in fact it does not. I wish the wording was clarified. It shows it is at the post office when Speedee Delivery or whatever shipper still has it.

  2. And they still cant seem to deliver packages within a decent time. Funny that their delivering on sunday yet my package is still sitting in the same spot as it has been since december 16 – 7 days ago. This is just another fake work day where they loaf around in order to grab some overtime. USPS is and always will be a joke of an excuse for a service.
