USPS delivery changes begin for St. Cloud, MN

WAITE PARK — Sometime in early September, delivery times will lengthen for any bulk mail sent from St. Cloud. First-class mail still might get there overnight, but it’s going to get a longer ride.

No specific date has been announced for the U.S. Postal Service to move some operations from the mail processing facility in Waite Park to Minneapolis next month as part of a nationwide restructuring.

After the change, mail originating in St. Cloud will be processed in Minneapolis, USPS spokesman Pete Nowacki said Wednesday. He said there likely wouldn’t be any public announcement when the change is made.

Nowacki said the change could mean longer transit times for some standard mailings. For example, a bulk mailing dropped off in St. Cloud for addresses in Minnesota has a delivery standard of 3-5 days, although there may be cases where those mailings are delivered in a day or two. That time frame likely will increase, but still remain within the standard.
