USPS in Oregon and Texas hiring over 300 holiday temp employees

helpwanted14PORTLAND, OR — The United States Postal Service is now accepting online applications for more than 300 seasonal, non-career holiday term employees to work in Oregon – 278 of them in Portland’s mail processing facilities.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate. Background checks and drug tests will be conducted.

Starting pay is $11 per hour, with no benefits. Hours of work will vary based on mail volume but are expected to average approximately 30 hours per week. Most of the positions involve heavy lifting and handling and processing of mail at Portland’s mail processing center at 715 NW Hoyt St.

Those selected for these holiday casual positions will work approximately 30 days on a temporary basis, during the period between Nov. 15 and Jan. 9, 2015.

Salary range for these positions is from $15.26 to $16.25 per hour, with variable work hours and work days, including holidays and weekends.  Start time is flexible and successful applicants must be available when called to report to work.  Work hours will vary.

The positions are non-career, with limited benefits, but can lead to a rewarding career appointment with the full benefits of a federal employee.  Note: Limited benefits for some temporary job Post Office positions include paid vacation days, contractual pay raises, and access to the USPS non-career Employee Health Benefits Plan.
