USPS wants employees to help design its next generation of delivery vehicles.
The Postal Service’s surging package volume and aging fleet have prompted the organization to begin developing ideas for newer, better vehicles.
One goal: to take advantage of the automotive industry’s recent advances in safety, fuel efficiency, design, and convenience features, as well as lower emission requirements.
Employees are asked to submit ideas for increasing the safety, space/configuration, features, ease of use and other enhancements to their supervisor or manager.
No idea is too small or too big. Submit your suggestions to your supervisor or manager; all submissions are due by close of business Thursday, July 17.
tinted window’s so they can’t see us sleeping, gps so we won’t get lost, blue tooth for hands free driving so we can talk crap to the supervisors, air conditioning so we can stay in the vehical in the summer, heat, so we can stay in the vehical in the winter, reinforced bumper front and back to run over loose dogs and back over them. Reinforced vehical body from side impact’s from somalian’s not paying attention while they talk on their cell phones, lights and siren’s when we are running late to get back to the station with V-8 hemi engine with turbo. Oh yea, cup holders, ash tray, small toilet for on the go bathroom break, small sink with hot and cold running water for wash up, small stove for hot meals and small fridge for our lunch. small dish on top to pull in Netflix, if I can think of something else I will let you know, thanks for listening.
In all honesty we need to get rid of All supervisors. Unfortunately they have no control or say in what we soon a daily basis. Every time I ask a supervisor something, they tell me I don’t know or there is nothing I can do about it. What a waste of payroll. All you need is one postmaster and maybe a night supervisor. So I take back my comment about getting rid of them all . 75% of them need to go. Especially the misfits( people that couldn’t carry mail(204b). Or excess clerks that can’t carry mail and they somehow get a 204b position. In all honesty who makes decisions?
My supervisor gave us the papers to fill out. I in turn handed it to another supervisor and they asked what they were supposed to do with it as PolarBear stated.
So my question is. How will this work if they don’t even tell the supervisors to do with the suggestions.
I am a supervisor…..what am I suppose to do with all the suggestions?
All suggestions given will be handled promptly and deposited in the official File 13. That the USPS is even going through the charade of taking suggestions is offensive because as all employees know their requests are not wanted and will not be heeded. Furthermore, if somebody was lucky enough to submit a good idea management will steal said idea and reward themselves with bonuses, and the person who came up with said suggestion will be shafted in true managerial fashion.
We shouldn’t be fooled by the sudden concern for safe economical vehicles. This is nothing but a smokescreen trying to stave off potential lawsuits when drivers are injured or killed as these ancient decrepit machines fail in horrible ways. It’s only because the Service fears that kind of attention that the idea of replacing the fleet is even being considered.
Emission standards are law, and again the Service has no choice legally but to comply. They have let the fleet decay into a bunch of worn out scrapped up junk heaps, with logos worn off, dents and scrapes all over them, and other problems that make LLV’s look like hell compared to UPS or FedEx, who update and replace their vehicles regularly.
Make your suggestion to your supervisor or postmaster, and kiss it goodbye.

LLV conversion to electric is a start….
So now the employees can have ideas on how vehicles shall be designed. Does that include how cushy the fleet of limousines shall be? I hope so!
good heater and a/c . windows in rear side panels for better field of vision. exhaust should exit on side opposite operator(exhaust currently hits obstructions and come back at us). side vents in driver foot area.
