2/15/21 CHICAGO (CBS) – – For months, CBS 2 has been investigating lost or undelivered mail all across Chicago. An inspector general looked into many of the issues reported, including thousands of parcels delayed or not delivered this past summer on the South Side.
“Your news reports have really given a voice to my constituents,” said U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Illinois).
Based on those reports, Rush called for an internal postal service investigation.
This month the 18 page report was released, and it was not kind to the Auburn Park, Henry McGee, Ashburn, and James E. Worsham post office branches. The USPS Inspector General released some internal photos of mail just sitting around.
It is curious since Ashburn Station and Henry McGee Station reported they had no instances of delayed mail.
The report found 62,866 pieces of delayed mail between May and July. Investigators found “management at all four stations did not accurately report delayed mail.”
More photos that are part of the report show just some of the 53 delivery vehicles left unlocked — ripe for theft. Eighteen of them contained mail and packages.
Then there’s the mail deemed “non-delivered.” Investigators wrote, “Three stations did not report any ‘non-deliveries’ … however, during our site visits, we determined that there were 18,785 non-deliveries.”
On average, 30% of employees just did not show up to work each day last summer at those branches.

More reason to remove the stooge that bought his job from Das Fuhrer. He is doing everything he can to destroy the Postal Service. People that want to properly manage the government agency should be in charge. Would a carrier that missed scans be allowed to keep working for the Postal Service? Would an employee that didn’t maintain schedule not be disciplined? Only employees that do the hard work are expected to do their job right!
outdated equipment at processing plants
and not properly training new employees
and labor relations / unions not firing employees who do not contribute on a regular basis creates most of these types of issues
Hard work used to be expected of a Union Employee
Hmmm wonder what the workforce looks like
It is very hard to say the public was served to the standard that they needed. The
lack of local leadership was the outstanding eyesore that is most apparent. Accountability is the element most lacking in this story from local, and headquarters
management.
The toolbag postmasters and sdos, mdos, pooms etc etc etc all lie, cheat and
do whatever to insure their pay for performance money. Performance is the
key word as they do not perform. They dont care. Nobody in mismangement
cares. The ship is taking on water. The rats are running. Get out while you can.
It may be too late for POTUS to fix this mess. good luck
WHAT, so are you telling me Management was Fudging numbers? NOOOO, that never happens. Just like they don’t play favorites, Nor do they let complete idiots who have never carried a piece of mail be District Managers. This place used to be a great job, now it’s nothing more then a breeding ground for hatred. Customers are nothing, service is nothing, treating people with respect is nothing.. BUT YOUR BONUS IS EVERYTHING
“Did not accurately report “ means they lied, as they all do. Whether it’s delayed mail or anything written on a piece of paper, these people lie. It’s an ingrained part of the culture and there is no punishment for it. Royal Oak, Edmund; it’s the same deal. Lies and abuse go with the territory. Let’s not forget deleting and altering clock rings to steal from employees. Anybody want a job?
Don’t fire or transfer the stupidvisors involved with managing the offices that have delayed mail. Demote them and make them work like trained circus animals and have them scan everything while they must maintain schedule.
Postmasters, supervisors and district management in that area should all be relieved of their jobs, union officers at those sites should also be removed, this creates delays all over and sure as hell don’t help the way the public sees the postal service, IG should also look into those in Washington DC that let this happen!!!!’
