USPS introduces new PMG award to honor managerial, team efforts in maintaining safe workplaces

USPS is introducing an award to honor leaders and groups that help create and maintain safe workplaces.

The Postal Service is introducing an award to honor leaders and groups that help create and maintain safe workplaces.

The Postmaster General Safety Excellence Award will recognize managers, safety professionals and safety teams at USPS facilities across the nation.

“This award will provide a new look at how the Postal Service values employee safety,” said Safety and OSHA Compliance Manager Linda DeCarlo.

Area vice presidents will solicit nominations, which can come from managers, teams, employees or their co-workers.

The area vice presidents will submit their recommendations to a review committee that will evaluate each submission and choose the recipients.

The committee must receive the nominations from the area vice presidents by Aug. 1.

More information, including a nomination form and program guide, is available on the Blue Safety page.

  1. My manager will be up for this award. It only took me 3 weeks to get her to put a workorder in for maintenance to clean the snow away from OUR collections boxes and the MBU’s that WE installed and make residents travel to the end of a block to use.

Safety smasty. If it doesn’t benefit her, she is not interested.

  2. Safety!!?? We never have to worry about that award coming to our office. Safety is a four-letter word at the post office in Louisiana.

  3. What about a clean facility? We used to have a 2.2 custodial 4852 line j & now we have only one custodian for a level 21 office in Rolla,Mo. 65401. He cannot get it clean by himself!

  4. Wasn’t it back in 2007 or so that the big push was to be designated the best office as far as safety was concerned? I forget the program name, but know our postmaster was really pissed, because one accident happened that took our award away. That is all management cares about, is the award, not the actual safety.

  5. Another useless item the tools and thugs will use to
their advantage. Safety shmafety. What a joke. Safety
went out the window with two a day deliveries. Fire them all.
