USPS mail carrier caught throwing package in Kansas

4/16/18 DERBY, Kan. (KAKE) -Derby resident, Josh Gray, was not happy when he recently checked his home surveillance cameras. He caught something he wasn’t expecting.

“Basically, walked up to the steps and threw it onto the porch,” Gray said.

You can see on this video a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier tossing Gray’s package onto the porch and walking away.

“To me it just seemed like laziness.” “It’s not snowy. It’s not icy like it has been over the winter. My steps are perfectly fine. You can see them. Not slippery,” Gray said.

You don’t have to go far to see other examples.

  1. If customers would install the JUMBO MAILBOXES. this would eliminate a large percentage of of throwing parcels to the door!

  2. This is “KAKENEWS”. Hahahahahahaha!!!!

If that’s “throwing”, then I throw my bowling ball every time I go bowling!!! Good grief the general public is absolutely clueless about what packages go through dozens of times on their journey!!

  3. A quick correction – I meant to say regarding your packages, have the sender send them with signature requests or numbered insured tags. The carrier has to knock on your door then and will leave a notice if you aren’t there. But if you send packages, do the same.

  4. Customers have a right to having their packages delivered safely. Some carriers are very lazy and stupid and throw them ridiculous distances because they don’t want to get out or walk a few extra steps.
But let’s get real. When I was still an active carrier, the parcels were increasing by the ton. Clerks literally throw packages into individual route tubs from ten to twenty feet or more every day because the volume dictates they have to because it takes too long to walk over and gently place them in a tub.
The secret is the packaging. Carriers know some stuff will be needed to be handled carefully – that’s why we have “fragile” stamps, or other warnings that indicate medical supplies, glass, or similar contents. We knew that outfits from clothing web sites like L.L. Bean or Boston Proper, for example would be, duh, probably clothing. Shirts don’t break. Catalogues that don’t fit in mailboxes? Although they’re a rarity now, no carrier is going to waste time putting it on a feather pillow for you.
I never tossed a package I knew wasn’t sturdy, and then it would be like a book or something like that. Then I would slide it a few feet because the way they are packaged, that outside cardboard is more than sufficient to protect the contents.
It’s one thing if a carrier is mishandling everything, but damn, after long enough, the public needs to understand it’s our job, and we know how to handle your mail. Only in rare instances that always get caught on camera does anybody pay attention. If you’re that worried, get insurance on it, send it with a signature request, and then you can bitch because you have to go to your local office to pick it up. Mark your packages “fragile”. Use some sense and don’t be so anal. These carriers are overworked and have to run like deer to get their routes done each day.

  5. Public have no idea what goes on with the packages we have no choice but to throw packages during manual processing

  6. That was nothing! It most likely was thrown 20 or 30 feet several times during processing before this tiny toss. If all parcels were handled with kid gloves, you would NEVER receive it at all!

  7. Have these people seen what happens to these packages during mail processing???? I thought this was going to be a video of some carrier drop kicking a package 20 feet or something like that. REALLY this was nothing lol.

  8. Funny how the USPS has gotten political along party lines.
But when you ask Americans ( voters) which government agency they respect the most…the US Postal Service is ranked first, and the IRS is ranked last.
Even hardcore Republican voters want the Postal service to stay in place.

  9. no excuse, but every person you saw in the video where temp workers, not full time carriers, please don’t let these customer’s come to where they sort parcel’s, hell clerks at our station throw parcels 20 to 40 feet and miss the hampers.

    • Social media computers are ruining the world . The job is overbearring take a day off and walk with a carrier from start to finish. From 8 am to 8 pm would you kansas guy make it thru the day . Was the parcel marked fragile was it damaged ? Quit bitching till you walk in anothers shoes !! One day walk with carrier in rain snow one foot ice heat cold and have some fun then complain about it till then be happy and get a post office bow and pick up your mail !?
