USPS: Mail delivery resumes, stopped after postal worker attacked

Mail delivery has returned to a north Beaumont neighborhood after the postal service suspended it following an attack on an employee, a spokesperson with the postal service said.

A postal inspector followed the mail carriers as they delivered mail throughout the neighborhood, however, the employee involved in the attack did not return to her route.

Detectives with the Beaumont Police Department arrested 3 girls, ages 12, 14, and 16 and charged them with attempted robbery, a third degree felony.

Some residents living on Ives were both angered and frustrated that they didn’t receive mail for a week.

“They could have hired a police officer. I’m sure they got post office security people. They could have ridden with them, so that was no excuse. That’s just a lame excuse. It was for the safety. Well did it get any safer today?” said Marviono Booker.
