USPS Mail Recovery Center (MRC) auctions to go online

The Atlanta, GA, Mail Recovery Center (MRC) is moving its auctions of undeliverable mail online, giving bidders from around the world a chance to purchase parcels of unclaimed mail.

Previously, the auctions were held at the MRC and open only to those who could attend in person. GovDeals, the company that will handle the online auctions, says expanding the pool of bidders will yield more revenue for the Postal Service.

Roger Gravley, GovDeals’ vice president of client services and marketing, said his company’s auctions produce a 20-40 percent price increase over live auctions. During fiscal year 2011, the MRC was able to capture over $8 million in revenue through auctions, recycling and the proper disposal of unclaimed items.

Additional information about the Mail Recovery Center (MRC) can be found at the MRC website.

USPS employees and members of their immediate family are not permitted to bid on postal auctions.

  1. Horrible, I bought 5 pallets. All junk, the items looked like they had been run over by a truck, with skid marks, clothes damaged.

  2. Good luck….that stuff goes for crazy amounts already. Some stuff goes for more than retail!!! If you want to gamble (with worse odds) bid on this crap.

Electronics? All are in busted open boxes that have been dropped 50 times. No testing or guarantee……so…..I hope they work.

  3. PLEASE NOTIFY ME OF ELECTRONICS THAT ARE GOING TO AUCTION, HOW WILL THIS WORK. THANKS
