USPS OIG investigating theft of Dayton mail by contracted truck driver

postal worker charged with stealing cash from mailAn unnamed truck driver is being investigated in connection with the theft of mail she was contracted to take from the Dayton Post Office to Postal Service operations in Pittsburgh.

The suspect is an independent contractor with Rose-marie Zajac’s Mail Transportation Co. of Yatesboro.

Zajac said the driver has been suspended during the investigation.

The investigation was prompted by 15 complaints of missing mail originating at the Dayton Post Office since March, said Scott Balfour, special agent with the Postal Service Office of the Inspector General.

“Agents identified a driver they believe to be responsible for the losses,” Balfour said. “The driver is not currently transporting mail for the company and will likely be facing criminal charges.”

  1. Contractors been stealing from post office forever, and management want more of them, more of them more theft, keep your own trucks rolling to keep them honest
