and I thought we hit rock bottom bedrock when I ran 117/119……..they must have dug out a sub-basement. Timothy Healy was the only one who was able to run this place……..now he is a CEO in the private sector….figures. the place now needs less indians and more cowboys…wink, wink, nod, nod!
Fly on the wall- I know exactly what you are saying OMG!!! You can’t make this up!
Post Office isnt set up to handle this many packages. Routes are too long, trucks are too small, and we can’t get CCA’S to stick around so we are short staffed again. We arent allowed to curtail anymore, and are delivering door to door ads that the PO only charges $.17/piece for. In our office OT is given away like candy on Halloween, and management doesn’t seem to care if they pay us double time when it isn’t necessary due to their stupid decisions. Yeah America- we are totally ready.
Wouldn’t know it from our building…Plant Manager has been sending truck loads of our mail to other local areas boosting mail volume everywhere else except here. Not to mention I heard she screwed up big time when she sent one of these trucks to Springfield,MA. A new client had just signed up using USPS, and when she sent all of that mail down there they failed..Prompting the new client to jump ship rip up the contract and go to UPS cause that companies mail was delayed and was part of the Failed Mail at this building. While trying to make a name for herself she has handcuffed the other buildings around to up their Overtime calls, and have the fail everyday while mail is left behind. Meanwhile our building has hardly any overtime and only processing 120-150,000 pieces a day compared to what it was last year when it was doubled.. Way to go Hero!!..make yourself look good first in all aspects instead of the company and customers…especially at this time of year!!
First off, whomever the author of this article is, get your damn grammar straight or get out of the business. “American’s” is a possessive, such as “American’s story”, or some other form of possessive connotation. It also refers to a single person with the apostrophe. You’re getting paid to write, so you ought to know better.
But I can tell you as a soon to retire carrier, three days hence, in fact, that after 32 + years of being a city carrier, I have never seen the amount of parcels we are getting before. Good for business? Of course. But the business is being run by greedy bonus seeking management that is in no hurry to hire new help that plagues probably every office of any size in the country.
Routes are so overburdened now, thanks to the belligerent and blind attitude coming from higher up, that carriers are out into the wee hours, even 2:30 AM in Berkeley, CA. Probably that is occurring lots of other places, too. Management knows forcing overtime as opposed to hiring new people whom, when they go “career” after a route is vacated is cheaper than paying the insurance and benefits career employees enjoy. It’s all a money scam, bonuses being called other names, such as “performance recognition”, going into the wallets of people who are so far removed from reality it’s ridiculous and helping themselves to money they should not be allowed to accept.
This is the United States Postal SERVICE. It is not a business, for profit or otherwise. We are here to deliver product and serve our customers. We need to be on time. Routes desperately need inspected and adjusted for the enormous increase in parcel mail, but upper level management is in no hurry because they prefer overloaded routes as opposed to hiring people which would be the result of an honest route adjustment. I would estimate my office would gain probably two full time city routes and positions. That will not happen until customers complain to the point of backing management into corners they can’t squeeze out of, or lawmakers put pressure on them to do what needs to be done.
No, customers, never mind what USPS management tells you. They are not on the workroom floor, those who call the shots. Your local supervisor and postmasters are subject to the same idiocy and have no control other than to beg for help. It’s the higher level management who never deal with a customer that cause the problems because of their greed and indifference.
I would recommend you mail packages immediately. Carriers are packing their trucks to the brim, and have to come back for second loads. We are out after dark and can barely keep up. It’s good for the bottom line, but sacrificing service and reliability to pad pockets of undeserving bloated management personnel is wrong. Just remember your carrier is being very much overworked, probably suffering from exhaustion and/or chronic fatigue, and is doing his or her best.
they are using anyone they can to deliver most making very little money and being over worked to death ,,probably not a regular carrier was helping out that day or something .altho we are human and let me tell you when you have 200 amazon packages they all look the same after a 10 hour day ..
just saying its not as easy as you may think it is to do this job .we dont want to make mistakes believe me but it does happen
I don’t think they are ready
I receive my mail and packages after 5pm everyday
That does not seem like they ready
Also one of my packages was delivered 6 streets away
Does 24th look like 30th?
funny at Mid-Island PD&C NY 117/119 it is chaos….but than again the Sr MDO is on vacation in India at the busiest time of the year….go figure? (plant manager approved it? another brain surgeon) same thing every year last several years. I remember back in the day all MDO’s from Thanksgiving to New Years had to work 14 hour days, 6 or seven days a week. oh, ain’t this diversity crap just grand. don’t even get me started on the 600-700 express mails that did not get out because before she left said NO OT for Clerks. lets see $22.95X 700=? Brennen needs to shake this place up. no one in charge knows how to make good decisions.
What makes you think Brennan knows any more than the other idiots in charge??!
UPS/FDX tracking vs USPS tracking………like comparing a new Boeing 747-800 with a 30 year old piper cub!
I agree with you, but Miss IOD is the so called big cheese. so if not her then we need to go to the outside. alright by me, I was a big fan of Marvin Runyon the PMG and former Chairman of Ford Motor Company put in by Bill Clinton. we need a guy like that again from Trump………someone who will come in and stop this bonus madness and cut mismanagement by 60%. for all who do not know the Trump Organization it is an umbrella that has over 100 separate companies under it that has thousands of real managers running them…….they get no bonus if they do not make a profit. if they can;t cut it they get fired. with the PO losing $5.6 Billion this year, they should CUT their pay 10%. and every year until they reach 0 (zero) then kick em to the curb.
I chose UPS to deliver my packages when I had the choice. PO seems to take quite a bit longer and that track my package info is useless.
No plans for extra help… UPS has a package helper with them. Plus they aren’t delivering Circulars and 3rd class and miss sorts…Small trucks can’t handle extra size parcels that’s why… it WILL be very bad year PS make America great Again!!!
