USPS reports some post offices affected by Hurricane Matthew in Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina

Hurricane Matthew has now been upgraded back to a category 4 storm. It’s current track will result in significant impacts along the Florida coast and northward into Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. The Postal Service has prepared for the storm.

Post Office closings have been announced in Miami, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Cocoa Beach. Go to “Is my Post Office open” for details.

Yesterday The governor of South Carolina issued an evacuation order for the counties around Charleston. In response to this, operations at 80 Post Offices have been suspended because of the storm, which has accelerated back to a category 4 hurricane today. Cocoa Beach
The Cocoa Beach Post Office, 500 N. Brevard Avenue, Cocoa Beach, FL 32932 and Patrick Air Force Base Post Office, 424 Falcon Avenue Patrick AFB, FL 32925, are closed today due to Hurricane Matthew.

Post Offices along the Barrier Islands, listed below, closed at Noon today, and mail delivery was suspended.

  • Melbourne Beach Post Office, 504 Ocean Avenue, Melbourne Beach, FL 32951
  • Indialantic Post Office, 200 N. Palm Avenue, Indialantic, FL 32903
  • Satellite Beach Post Office, 1071 S. Patrick Drive Ste 101, Satellite Beach, FL 32937
  • Merritt Island Post Office, 333 Crockett Blvd., Merritt Island, FL 32953
  • Cape Canaveral Post Office, 8700 Astronaut Blvd., Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

Miami/Palm Beach/Fort Lauderdale
The following retail offices have suspended operations.  Offices are expected to resume normal operations Tuesday, Oct. 11.  During the suspension, customers can visit the alternate sites listed below.

  • Brickell Postal Store, 500 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33131 – Customers can use the Miami Flagler Post Office, 1101 Brickell Avenue, Miami FL 33131.  Hours of operation, Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-5 p.m., closed Sat.-Sun.
  • Miami Metro Postal Store, 150 SE 2nd Avenue #103, Miami, FL 33131 – Customers can use the Miami Flagler Post Office, 1101 Brickell Avenue, Miami FL 33131.  Hours of operation, Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-5 p.m., closed Sat.-Sun.
  • Palm Beach Main Post Office, 340 Royal Poinciana Way Ste. 328, Palm Beach, FL 33480 – Customers can use the West Palm Beach main office window, at 3200 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach FL 33416.  Hours of operation, Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.-7 p.m., closed Sun.
  • Palm Beach Worth Avenue, 401 S. County Rd., Palm Beach, FL 33480 – Customers can use the West Palm Beach main office window, at 3200 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach FL 33416.  Hours of operation, Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.-7 p.m., closed Sun.

  • Hutchinson Beach Finance, 11007 S. Ocean Drive, Jensen Beach, FL 34957 – Customers can use the Jensen Beach Post Office, 2301 N.E. Savannah Rd., Jensen Beach, FL  34957.  Hours of operation, Mon.-Fri. 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Sat, 9 a.m.-12 noon, closed Sun.
