Samsung recently announced an expanded voluntary recall of all original and replacement Galaxy Note 7 cellphones sold in the United States.
The recall stems from incidents of overheating lithium-ion batteries used in these devices.
Due to safety risks, Samsung is urging consumers with a Galaxy Note 7 to power down the device, leave it off and contact their carrier or the retail outlet where the device was purchased.
Consumers who have a Galaxy Note 7 device can exchange their phone for another Samsung smartphone or receive a refund under the expanded program.
In September, the Postal Service announced it will only ship Samsung Note 7 devices via USPS Retail Ground/Parcel Select due to potential safety hazards.
The Domestic Mail and International Mail rules and regulations pertaining to lithium batters are available online.
