The Postal Service is committed to cultivating a positive and safe work environment that’s free of threats, intimidation, bullying and violence for all employees.

USPS is reminding employees that the organization has a zero tolerance policy regarding workplace threats and violence.
To help fulfill this commitment, a threat assessment team is available to respond to threats, assaults and potential violence at all USPS locations. These teams are located at district and area offices and USPS headquarters in Washington, DC.
Team members are trained to assess the danger or harm of threats, whether implied or direct. The goals are to reduce risks to employees and the Postal Service, discourage inappropriate behavior and resolve conflicts.
If you’ve been threatened or believe you’re in a potentially unsafe situation that involves a co-worker, contractor, customer or management — or if you’re experiencing a domestic violence situation that could pose a threat in the workplace — notify your immediate supervisor, the local threat assessment team and the Postal Inspection Service.
The zero tolerance policy and reporting procedures are distributed by every district, area and headquarters office by the end of March each year at all USPS locations.
All facilities must permanently post the policy on bulletin boards and other prominent locations. The Postal Service wants all managers and supervisors to deliver a stand-up talk to employees to ensure they know how to contact their local threat assessment team.
The USPS social media policy states that the use of social media must abide by all postal policy concerning appropriate conduct and threats of violence in the workplace.
Report emergency situations to the Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455 or call 911. The Postal Inspection Service number is monitored 24/7.
total bullshit!!!! I got assaulted by my manager and she’s working and I have to be on owcp from an injury sustained by her violent behavior…. went to the inspectors and they are “investigating this” NYPD wants no part of it
Just more postal rhetoric. The postal service is the one doing the yelling, intimidating, harassing and treating employees poorly. If ALL things were equal and the PO did not pay as well as they do and they the benefits that they do, most people WOULD not put up w/it. They care NOTHING about this. Just more lip service, just like their bogus safety talks. They talk about safety, care NOTHING about safety, only care about production and getting 12 or more hours worth of work done in 8 hours or less. If the public REALLY knew what the po was really all about. Just more platitudes and “we care”. Ain’t no PO employee fooled one whit about this.
If the Postal service is so committed to a safe work place why are carriers expected to drive the kamikaze LLV trucks? Almost 500 low mileage cream puffs have caught fire so far. A female carrier was burned in a rear end collision in Mi. and died. If the LLV trucks are so safe, convert a few into limos for the Washington Postal big shots. Instead of tracking the lazy carriers with GPS spend the time and expense making the kamikaze trucks safe to drive!
The PO has been “committed” for decades. Safety and zero tolerance
are way down on the list of these toolbags. Been the same old song
and dance for years. If the PO is so “committed” why are the same
problems and issues going on all over the country on a daily basis?
These toolbags only know how to ignore safety and zero tolerance
issues just to protect themselves and all the other toolbags that
are ruining the PO. Yes some craft people are just as bad and usually
are held accountable. The toolbags tell us that they are held to hire
standards but are usually transferred or promoted. Craft people
are disciplined and sometimes fired. What a system. The people
in charge with all the power get away with some of the most serious
offenses. The Po is just a toxic wasteland getting ready to implode.
Some things just get the usual yearly blah blah blah because
management has to announce and post these things. Things
only get worse. They never change. Good luck.
Postal Inspectors don’t give a damn about this zero tolerance policy….they think they are above having to investigate such trivial workplace matters…..not until someone goes postal will they act like they give a damn.
The Postmaster was sending a diabetic depends and talking to him in a baby voice and calling him names and Postal inspectors were notified and ignored it. Zero tolerance is a joke, management can do anything they want.
They’ve been preaching this crap for 20 years that I know about. Zero violence unless it’s one of their management idiots that commits the violence. Once management does something and the union knows about it nothing will be done to anybody. I’ve seen it first hand so I can’t be told. They do not care about safety, what they care about is being able to say you were told so it’s your own fault and you signed a paper stating that you were told. The only thing the USPS is committed to is more of the the same.
I’m afraid to go to work everyday because my co-worker Rob Quinn deliberately threw a bucket of mail at me on 12-18-19 and he’s still at work. Management refuses to discipline or terminate Robert Quinn. I’ve asked mgmt. To keep him away from me and management let’s him come near me.Robert Quinn was fired a year ago for flipping out and throwing things around inside the office and he’s currently out now for flipping out on the OIC Matthew Scott on 1-21-20 and Matthew Scott plays favoritism to Robert Quinn and he won’t discipline or terminate Robert Quinn. I’m afraid for my safety and I’m afraid Robert Quinn is going to flip out and injure me and hurt me again. Robert Quinn injured my right ankle when he threw the bucket of flats at me. Management won’t do anything for me to keep me safe. Please help me before I get injured again by Robert Quinn or before he hurts someone else as well. I’m seeing an Orthopaedic Surgeon for my ankle because of what Robert Quinn did to me. Why is he still there? What happened to the “0” Tolerance Policy?Robert Quinn has thrown flats and parcels at me even after 12-18-19 and I told management every time and nothing was done to Robert Quinn. What about my safety? I’ve been in my office for more than 10 years and I’m not going anywhere, but I expect to go to work and be safe and feel safe and I don’t. Just on 1-24-20 Matthew Scott was talking about Robert Quinn coming back to our office and he’s trying to make it comfortable for Robert Quinn, but what about me? Matthew Scott has done nothing for me at all. I’ve filed an EEO against Matthew Scott for allowing a hostile work environment and not keeping me safe and playing favoritism to Robert Quinn. On 1-24-20 Matthew Scott told my Shop Steward that he wants Robert Quinn and I to work beside each other to make Rib feel comfortable. I’m afraid to be anywhere near Robert Quinn because the first time management turns their head or aren’t there Robert Quinn will do something to me. I’m literally scared to go to work because Robert Quinn is unstable. I didn’t go to work today because I’m afraid to be near him. Robert told me that he’s on a strong psychotic medication. Please help me before Robert injures me again or someone else.
I believe that the OIC is trying to comply with USPS medical team. If Robert Quinn’s problems are such as you fear. They will be the ones
that have to make sure he is on the proper medication. so that he is
able live more normal. I am sorry that you have been hurt, but from a
legal standpoint they may be forced to do things as they are being done.
It is easy to fought mental illness, but like cancer sometimes a lot of
positive things can done. Hopefully all works out!.
