USPS seeking supplier for Intermediate Walk Through Body Delivery Trucks

The United States Postal Service is issuing solicitation 3D-14-A-0116 for the purchase of Intermediate Walk Through Body Delivery Trucks. Contract award for this solicitation is contingent upon approval of funding.

Design – The vehicle design shall offer maximum peripheral visibility to the operator commensurate with body configuration. Body styling shall provide for easy and unrestricted entry and exit of the operator to and from the seated position and between cab and cargo compartments and entry and exit from the curb side door. Operator controls shall be designed and located to be readily visible and available and operable from the restrained seated position to persons meeting the physical attributes of the 5th percentile female through the 95th percentile male classifications (approximately 60 and 75 inches tall, respectively). Total design shall incorporate the best principles of ruggedness, safety of operation, ease of handling, minimum scheduled preventive maintenance service, and ease of removal and replacement of components. The vehicle design shall be capable of permitting the installation of a 454 kg (1 ,000 lb.) capacity lift gate (lift gate weight not to exceed 272.2 kg , 600 Ibs.) on the vehicle rear without adversely affecting the vehicle’s suspension, framelbody components, level attitude of the vehicle, or safe operation and handling. Payload capacity (including lift gate) will remain at 1587 kg (3,500 lb.)

  1. There are some brown trucks running around that look like just what usps is looking for.

  2. We need new vehicles cause there is a change in our business goal and that is packages. We need something cheap on gas and big enough to hold packages for routes. First class mail and junk is dying off

  3. Typical postal mgmt, finally decide to use something, that others in the industry have used for decades.
