USPS seeking suppliers to provide info, solutions on new 'Sensor Technology for Mail Tracking'

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is performing a market survey to evaluate obtaining the services which are the subject of this Request For Information (RFI).

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is considering new technology to track items as they move through the USPS network to allow for customers to view in real-time (or near real-time).

The expectation is for tracking technology that uses a device that can be placed on, or within, an item, provides real-time (or near real-time) tracking location capability, and provides an interface that allows for tracking data to be collected and displayed allowing for greater visibility.

The USPS would be interested in tracking technology that may offer additional data collection features, such as, temperature or shock monitoring.

The USPS is interested in technology, using current RF communication protocols, such as, Bluetooth, RFID, Near Field Communication, cellular, Wi-Fi, etc.

The intent of this notice is to seek information from suppliers that currently have tracking technology. Interested parties are invited to submit a response to this RFI to include marketing materials, potential solutions, specific responses to requested information, and any other relevant information you deem appropriate to address your ability to provide a product that meets this USPS need. The information provided may lead to a pilot test, or tests, in the near future. The USPS may request additional discussions relating to a responding supplier’s design, capabilities, and qualifications.
