The Korte Company has been selected by the USPS to Design-Build a $42 million facility in Houston, Texas. The renovation (713,000 square feet) and expansion (319,000 square feet) will consist of remodel and addition of office spaces, workroom floors, dock areas, business mail entry area, site development and parking areas
The Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC), located at 4600 Aldine Bender Road in Houston, marks the 42nd project The Korte Company has successfully delivered to the United States Postal Service.
The expansion will add approximately 319,000 square feet to the existing building through the construction of load bearing site-cast tilt-up concrete exterior wall panels. These design enhancements will provide a more open floor plan, and will also provide an additional layer of flexibility to accommodate future needs.
An intersting article from Reuter th week notes tht
th nke sneakers cap should now be assciated wth tht culture ven without actull taking prt
of it. Befor nron went bankupt in late 2001.
I wonder if this renovation will get our mail to us on time? What am I thinking? This is the piss poor excuse for Service. By the way, the motto of North Houston is, “Seventy-five percent of the workforce calls in sick and the other twenty-five percent are on limited duty.”
I would like to think my 27% PAYCUT helped to pay for this…Just Sayin’…
USPS has a good name just needs good standards, service, and business. Great Employees who care
I agree with Dave a little but all private companies have their own problems too just like everything else in this World. This is not a perfect world we live in but still try to do a perfect job for the customers!!!

Nice piece on the PostNews,”Going Postal” about a member of Congress husband having an interest in the down sizing of Americans Postal Service.
Looking at what Congress has done to the Postal Service with those payments the PO has to put into the retirement fund so fast.
Davy boy an others putting down Americas mail service likely have an interest in it themselves. Why they come on an say what they say.
How say you Davy Boy’s? Issa? PG? Any OIG’s want to chime in?
And we have to lease a fleet of vehicles because we can’t afford to buy? Hmmm everyday we need then, the expansion a choice. Mind boggling.
The USPS is not broke if they’re still making payroll, buying fuel, paying bills etc,etc USPS is still $60billion+ in revenue yearly,so to anybody
with any kind of thought pattern would know that operating expenses go on as usual.
Hell in the PO $42 million dollars is less than payroll for one pay period….do the math….500-600,000 employees just making $1000 a p/p is $500-600 million…think about it.
Just my 2cents worth
where is my brown uniform
First they build it,then they can close it.
The plan is to expand to a mega plant and close the other plants in houston
Let’s just join the circus!
Kickback$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
North Houston is about to do a major addition to their building. Original budge was $98 million. The contract is for a little less, not sure of the exact number, but I think I was told around $85 million. What about the old offices that are currently processing this mail? How much will it cost for transportation to North Houston, then back to the original area? Is management insane, or are they working for large mailers?
Discounts have been given below what the post office is supposed to charge, according to Donahoe between $14 and $18 billion a year! That makes the $5.5 billion a year for PAEA look like small potatoes.
Dave is jealous obviously because hard working people are getting a decent raise. Go do what Moses said. Also grow a brain.
Dave, you shouldn’t talk about EAS employees like that, even if it is true…………ROFL !
This is a friggen JOKE ….
Dave go fuck yourself
I hope congress will just go ahead and privatize the post office. This is the worst run company I’ve ever seen. Then they can just start firing all the lazy employees that think they are owed something. They are never happy, always complain about everything. Let them feel the pain of being laid off.
Only USPS mgmt. would want to close various plants around the country, to supposedly save money, and then spend $42 million to replace them.
USPS mgmt = liars and thieves, at all levels.
If anyone has been wondering, that is over $130.00 a square foot. Thats more than people pay for nice homes and this is a empty building. Bad decision again usps mgmt.
This will be the way in the future. More and more consolidations into a structure similar to UPS and Fedex.
these assholes have plenty of money to waste we can’t get a decent raise
Hey!!! This is why we are crying broke?? How can we negotiate a contract on the expanding a building when we are bleeding out money?? The Unions are begging before Congress… Union members are holding informational pickets, employees are writing letters to their politicians.. This is crazy… We are on every channel with commercials telling the american public that we are broke, we don’t use their tax dollars etc.. The Postmaster General needs to resign
Translation: A USPS mgmt employee has a relative that owns this company, and will soon be enjoying the bribe and kickback $ that will result from this contract.
Wait a minute…. I thought we were broke?
