USPS signs lease for 4th customer care center in Wichita, KS

WICHITA, Kansas – The U.S. Postal Service announced it has signed a lease for its newest Customer Care Center.

The new call center will be housed in a 49,000 square-foot building at 4509 E. 47th St. South in Wichita.

It will field calls from customers across the nation.

“The Postal Service is committed to providing exceptional customer service from purchase to delivery and all points in between,” said Vice President Consumer and Industry Affairs James Nemec. “Our goal is to ensure each and every customer contact is a pleasant and satisfying one.”

The Customer Care Center began operations in July 2014 at the former Remote Encoding Center location at 2601 S. Oliver St. in Wichita. The Customer Care Center employs approximately 250 employees, many of whom worked at the Remote Encoding Center. The Postal Service plans to relocate to the newly-leased facility by Jan. 31, 2015.

The Customer Care Center will enhance the customer experience by providing a single point of contact from query to resolution. Wichita is one of four USPS Customer Care Centers nationwide; the others are in Troy, MI; Los Angeles and Edison, NJ.

The Postal Service’s Customer Care Center network began transitioning to a new business model in 2012 that benefits customers by offering them a single point of contact while being fully managed and operated by Postal Service employees. In Fiscal Year 2013, the network responded to 76 million customers by phone, email and through usps.com.
