USPS is temporarily suspending service for Global Express Guaranteed (GXG) non-document shipments to Russia addressed to private individual recipients.
FedEx, which provides transportation and delivery of GXG shipments, has been advised by Russian customs authorities they no longer can use express clearance processes for inbound non-document shipments addressed to private individual recipients.
The suspension of service will remain in effect until details of the new clearance requirements have been confirmed.
Document and non-document shipments to businesses will continue without interruption. Document shipments to private individual recipients also will continue to be accepted.
Non-document shipments that are currently in transit within the FedEx network and addressed to individuals will be stopped at FedEx Express European gateways and returned to senders. Customers concerned about their shipments may call 877-605-1170.
Customers wishing to send non-document shipments addressed to private recipients in Russia may still do so using Priority Mail Express International Priority Mail International or First-Class Package International Service.
USPS will resume accepting GXG non-document shipments to private individuals in Russia as soon as the new clearance procedures are confirmed and FedEx has implemented any necessary operational changes.
