USPS to Hold Grand Opening of 300th “Village Post Office”

East Brady VPO location provides select postal products and services

usps2013PITTSBURGH June 03, 2013- The Old Bank Deli & Coffee Shop, located at 323 Kelly’s Way in East Brady, holds a very special distinction. It not only joins a growing list of businesses to open a Village Post Office (VPO) in the Western PA District, it further holds the honor of becoming the 300th VPO in the nation. The Village Post Office is part of the Postal Service’s initiative to provide communities with expanded access to postal products.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Friday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at the Old Bank Deli & Coffee Shoppe, 323 Kelly’s Way, East Brady, PA 16028.

The East Brady Village Post Office – with operating hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. – offers sales of stamps and accepts pre-paid packages. The new VPO will also carry Expedited packaging (free Priority and Express Mail Flat-Rate boxes and envelopes) for added convenience in mailing packages.

Village Post Offices are operated by local businesses and offer popular products and services such as stamps and Flat-Rate packaging. The VPO concept was established in response to the changing mailing needs of the American consumer as more and more customers demand easier, more convenient access to Postal products and services where they are conducting business in their communities.

Eastern Area Vice President of Operations Dr. Joshua Colin and Western PA District Manager Robert Cintron will officiate the ribbon-cutting ceremony with assistance by The Old Bank Deli & Coffee Shoppe proprietors Norman and Melissa Gottschalk.

With 32,000 Postal retail offices and more than 70,000 third-party retailers – Approved Postal Providers – selling postage stamps and providing expanded access to Postal products, customers today have nearly 100,000 locations across the nation where business can be done with the Postal Service including the Post Office that never sleeps online at www.usps.com. The USPS website allows customers to enter their ZIP codes to find locations where Postal products and services – including VPOs – are available.
