WASHINGTON, Aug 20 (Reuters) – The U.S. Postal Service and its internal watchdog plan to review whether or not some of the agency’s employees may have violated federal policies by using their government email on the infidelity website Ashley Madison.

“We are looking into this matter and will follow our existing administrative process if misconduct is identified,” U.S. Postal Service spokesman Dave Partenheimer said in a statement.

Cyber security experts said data dumps on Tuesday and Thursday by a group calling itself Impact Team appeared to be authentic, exposing customer information that included government email addresses.

Some of those addresses posted on pastebin.com are pegged to the Postal Service. Reuters could not verify the authenticity of the information posted on the website.

A spokeswoman for the Postal Service’s inspector general said her office is also evaluating whether further investigation is warranted, and noted that more information is needed before determining if any violations may have occurred.

She added that the Postal Service does have a limited use policy which permits employees to use work email for personal reasons as long as it does not adversely affect productivity, interfere with the mission of the postal service or violate ethics standards. 1. Sure hope they dont find Poopoogeorge’s email.
He’s got enough trouble beatin that drug rap.

  2. OIG is only interested in seeing who they can fire…..not stopping rampant waste, fraud, abuse and delaying mail. (Bounty$$)

  3. If union employees actually had more than 5 hours of work during an 8 hour shift this could not happen.

  4. Doubt if these ppl get fired. They tend to fire good people instead of the ones stealing or fornicating on gov’s time.
I’m starting to think the post office only hires idiots now because only an idiot would use their usps.gov email address.
It has to be someone high up in the post office because MOST ppl that work at usps don’t have email addresses.

  5. Would it be great that the unions post those emails addressees in their magazines with the headline, ” Top 52 idiots of the USPS”.

    • If some one used YOUR email to conduct that transaction, would that make YOU an IDIOT?

  6. I would venture to guess that they will find out it is the overpaid po mismanagers in violation of the unauthorized computer use-not the union workers. not surprised, as a group they have been cheating and gaming the system for years! PO OIG a sleep at the switch-again!

    • Wrong!
There are only 2 EAS, the rest are craft employees along with some fake emails. Can’t cross check with union database so you know who you are.

  7. i’m sure the ‘watchdog’ known as the OIG or office of the inspector general will work tirelessly to see that
any information about this obvious misuse of gov’t time and resources will be swept under the carpet.
the OIG is a shameful scam, existing simply to fool the gullible
and lead them to believe that someone is acting as a watchdog of federal
agencies such as the united states postal service. i would classify the OIG as more of a co-conspirator rather than any ‘watchdog.’
