July 1, 2015 – Some letters and packages may not reach their destination after a fire destroyed a mail truck in Manitowoc.

At about 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, a United States Postal Service delivery vehicle caught on fire while the letter carrier was driving on Victoria Drive off Wisconsin 42.

“There was a loud explosion, and then flames started shooting out of (the vehicle),” Officer in Charge Roy Stobl said.

The carrier wasn’t injured, but some mail set to be delivered to customers and some outgoing mail was damaged or destroyed in the blaze.
