Video: A post office may close due to 1980s TV star’s bankruptcy
HARFORD A post office in Susquehanna County is in danger of temporarily closing, thanks to a Hollywood actor.
Bronson Pinchot, who became famous for his role as Balki in ABCs Perfect Strangers, owns several properties in the Harford area, including the local post office.
But now, the post office says its being told to leave. In a letter to residents in the Harford area, the U.S. Postal Service said that Pinchot is exercising the option to not renew the lease. That means postal workers wont be allowed in the building when the lease ends on May 31.
Pinchot recently declared bankruptcy and owes more than $10,000 on homes and buildings in town.
There are two primary solutions being discussed for the more than 50 people with P.O. boxes at the Harford post office: taking the P.O. boxes and putting them at Kingsleys post office, which is about four miles away, or expanding rural delivery to all the homes
