ALBANY, GA (WALB) -Wednesday morning, Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard announced the lease for the Post Office on West Broad Avenue will be extended for another year.

The postal service was in danger of permanently closing because the lease was set to expire within the month, but city and county leaders were able to get in contact with congressional leaders to extend the lease until fall of 2014.
