“Postmaster General Donahoe is implementing one of the greatest threats to the public Postal Service to date,” APWU President Mark Dimondstein says in a new video. Standing in front of the National Postal Museum, Dimondstein adds, “This is where Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe would permanently put the public Postal Service.”
Dimondstein urges viewers to participate in a National Day of Action on Nov. 14 to stop the PMG from turning the USPS into a “relic of the past” and to tell Donahoe and the USPS Board of Governors: Stop Delaying America’s Mail!
I just got 2 questions…..Will the union comp my salary for the day if I go to this day of action and where will the drinks be after the action?
Gotta love those photo ops right Diamonstein? Are you planning on finishing off the MVS Craft or are you going to protest the Syrian backed attacks in Iraq? Maybe demand that Chuck E Cheeses step down?
yes Diamondstein, I’m sure the general public will rush out and take part in this day of action…. it amazes me that the NALC and other unions will only tell you what they want you to hear, just as the PO does, yet the unions cut the PO down as much as possible….. what diamondstein and Rolando won’t tell you is how the PO owes $18 billion to the US treasurey for an operating note that they can’t repay, and that the PO has missed several of the last pre-funding payments that eventually they will be liable for, and that the PO needs $ to replace it’s fleet of vehicles….. just where is all this $ to come from?…….. the unions continue to preach no service cuts, yet they give no alternative ways to come up with the needed $ other than to “grow the business”….. the unions only want to maintain membership so of course they don’t want service cuts because it will meant less $ in union dues….. since the NALC is so proud of the CCA position, why not hire a separate work force of them for Saturday and Sunday delivery? offer early retirements for the senior carriers which would save the PO a lot of $….. they would be hiring a worker at $15/hr and getting rid of the$28/hr ones……..kind of seems like common financial sense yet the morons who are in charge of our unions only see $ signs for themselves….. this is 2014, not 1972 anymore and times change….. I’m sorry but right now the unions are hurting the PO and the union employees more than they are helping because of greed
Where’s Congress?????
The bigger concern should be Obama and his tactics to assist in the destruction of the Postal Service. He has not done one single thing to help postal workers. We need to look at alternative politicians instead of the same old democrats and republicans. They are both for the status quo, turn everything over to private companies. We let private companies perform background checks only to find out later they did no investigation and instead gave security clearances to terrorists! On November 4, 2014, it is time to tell the republicans and the democrats, we are tired of you do nothing people and vote in people who will do something. It is sad to see a Congress with Boehner who so hates that a black man is president, he is willing to just…do nothing. Last year Boehner and the republicans shut down the government, will anyone remember?? They are counting on us forgetting they only care about the big businesses. We must remind them we are not stupid, Boehner is a racist and those who follow him, don’t fall far from the tree.
Anyone who actually works here knows the Post Office was a “relic of the past” long ago. Unless Snake pushes the button, nothing will change that.
Do/will they have the custodian cart with a copy of the MS-47 there too?
The PMG needs to be replaced. It’s about making improvements not destroying it.
Attention President Rolando and the other two unions: this is what you should be doing! You need to go on national television and don’t pussy foot around. Donahoe has declared war on all of us, and right now Dimondstein is the only leader showing some real balls. Locals with clout must get out there, too. Put the damn blame right where it belongs, on Donahoe’s fat ass.
I recall how we were so afraid of Marvin Runyon, but he looked like a tooth fairy compared to Pat Donahoe. It isn’t just a postal issue: unions nationwide are watching us because we’re some of the last ones left with some power, and if we fail to get rid of the PMG and restore the USPS back to a sensible entity, it will encourage Republican union haters like the Koch brothers to go all out to wipe out organized labor in this country and return it to the slave state of the industrial revolution. Back then it was about allowing unions to form period, and force decent conditions like safety, eight hour days, five day weeks, better pay, and vacations, which are taken for granted today. Now it’s about losing it all thanks to the ignorance of the American public and the hate and greed of business and the GOP. You must not allow that to happen. We are paying you to fight for us, and never forget that. You have your mandate – now go out there and make it happen.
