Have you ever shipped something and made sure to pay for extra insurance in case it got lost or destroyed?
An Elkhart man did but says the postal service isn’t paying up for what they owe him.
United States Army Chief Warrant Two Bernie Rider sends personal items home to his mom’s house in Elkhart often. He just got home from a third tour to Afghanistan.
With the most recent package he sent 150 DVDs, his personal movie collection, to her house with insurance.
When she went to the Elkhart post office to pick up the package it was empty and marked as “received without contents.”
The post office has declined to fill any insurance claims the Riders have filed.
Now the Riders are questioning the purpose behind postal insurance.
