EAST HAMPTON, Conn. (WTNH) — The holiday rush of packages is on, making for long lines at post offices all over the state. But something bizarre happened Thursday, at the Colbalt Post Office in East Hampton. A strange odor left a post worker unconscious.
The postal worker was taken to the hospital by ambulance after smelling an odor and feeling sick.
East Hampton police and the DEEP descended on the small Cobalt post office. A postal worker and patron both noticed the suspect smell which did not appear to come from any particular package or letter.
“The employee described it as a sulfur type odor similar to like propane,” said Jeff Chandler, DEEP.
