(Memphis) After the 2001 anthrax attacks, the United States Postal Service installed Detection Systems to detect the presence of anthrax in many of their processing and distribution centers. However those systems do not detect ricin.
I know it does test for many things. Im not sure if ricin is one of those. I know it does test for anthrax, said David Walton from the United States Postal Service.
However offsite mail facilities in Maryland were able to detect ricin in letters addressed to Senator Roger Wicker and President Barack Obama.

Well it is known as BDS right? Anyway some mailmcircumvents the system when it is cancelled in the smaller POs.
the detection systems (BDS) installaed at p&dc location will not detect ricin. they were installed to detect anthrax.
What do you think is more important
Wash DC or Memphis.
Now let me ask you do you protect DC or Memphis.
That’s why ricin was detected in DC, more influential people to protect in DC.
If the Memphis BDU is maintained the same as ours is by in-house staff, I can see why it doesn’t work. Preventative maintenance doesn’t exist.
I am shocked that those machines didnt pick this up. Shame on usps upper management for not detecting this and protecting our workers on the front lines.
I would bet management turned off the VFS!!!
The usps installed machines that don’t work? No shock here
