Thousands of mailboxes may be in jeopardy after a robber stole a valuable postal key from a mail carrier Monday in Lauderhill.
LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) A distinctive pair of orange sneakers could be the key to help solve the case of a postal carrier, robbed at gunpoint, for her set of master mailbox keys Monday.
U.S. Postal Inspectors said the keys can be used to open a variety of block style mail boxes.
Once someone has access, mail can be stolen putting postal customers at risk of identity theft and tax fraud.
They look for anything of value or cash cards that they can cash in somewhere else, said Postal Inspector Blanca Alavarez.
It happened at the Continental Apartments at 1761 NW 46 Avenue in Lauderhill.
The man they are looking for is described as white, 510, medium build, with short-cropped, dark hair.
