Karah Adams told WHNT News 19 that her three-month postal career came to a sudden end after being accused of lying to her boss on her job application. But Adams said the claim by her supervisor was false, and was used as a cover to get rid of her after she wouldn’t go along with post office corruption she called “blatant.”
“A lot of stuff that goes on in the Fayetteville Post Office, it is intimidation and harassment at its best,” said Adams. “I did my job and I did it well.”
Adams said her background check turned up a non-criminal offense stemming from an incident at a U.S. Army base in 2005, shortly before she deployed for her first tour of duty in Iraq. She told us a fellow soldier stashed unpaid merchandise in her shopping cart after she had already paid for her own groceries, an account the army later verified when it decided not to punish her under the uniform code.
Adams claims the real reason for her firing is due to the fact that her boss turned on her after she refused to identify a co-worker who told her about another mail route opening. Adams said Postmaster Debbie McGee was controlling, and was threatened by the fact that Adams was aware of alleged illegal activity happening inside.
“She was working people off the clock, which is illegal, and she has done that numerous times,” said Adams. “There was one employee, who at the time she was still working there, the postmaster was having her come to her home and clean her home for wher, which is ethically not right in any way, shape or form.”

The USPS is absolutely the most sleazy, slimy, cut-throat, idiotic bastards you’ll ever meet !!! This is no exaggeration !! Postal Management which is primarily male in gender, some females, however, most of the females had to kneel down to their bosses for their positions.
I chose to avoid and ignore initial sexual advances of a supervisor…therefore I endured constant punishment consisting of very controlling, jealous, and hostile treatment by this supervisor. Micro-management at it’s extreme!! He wouldn’t allow people to talk to me, stand behind me when loading my vehicle. Later, that day he drove his vehicle right behind me as I was walking my route for an hour and a half. He critiqued my every movement and footsteps, “Why are you not sorting your mail as your walking ?” It was so obvious…it was ‘too icy’ to sort the mail walking in that particular location. Instigating and taunting me into a panic attack. I was so scared to have this hostile supervisor drive right behind me in his vehicle as I am walking…he continues to escalate by questioning me about very obvious answers to his questions. Whatever I said, was never good enough, and he would attempt to continue to bait me into this line of questioning. Literally, taunted me to tears and a panic attack.
This is all taking place in sight of my customers, which was truly an embarrassing and humiliating experience.

Those of you who have never worked at the USPS have no right to chime in your pitiful 2 cents worth having not ever worked a day under those conditions. The money and the benefits are all that keep most of the people coming back day after day to put up with such asinine behiavior…some of which may border on criminal. Until you have walked a mile in our shoes you should just keep your mouth shut and your ignorant opinions to yourself.
I’m sure this and more is true. Postal management is full of crooks, thieves, liars, whores and worse. There is no act that is illegal, immoral or degrading that these filthy pigs will not resort to. This “company” has been milked to death by this good-old-boy/girl network of incompetence and illegal activity.
I believe her that the postmaster treated her in that manner. Postmasters treat their offices in small towns as little kingdoms and feel as that the position they hold is beyond reproach. As a postal worker for 35 years I can attest to the sometimes unsavory attitudes from Post office management.Over the years more than a few management personnel have been removed or promoted for the very charges she describes.

I’m a bit cynical about this claim as well. A probate probably doesn’t have access to what’s going on behind the scenes. Hell, in my 29+ years it’s still difficult to know what’s going on, and most of it is cheap rumor mill shit nobody can verify anyway. Plus, I doubt this carrier would be a union official much less know how a union officer can legally ask for and receive management documents.
And far be it from me to criticize those who serve our country, but there does seem to be an unfair emphasis on workers’ military duty when somebody gets in hot water. Veterans have my gratitude but they should still be held equally accountable in their civilian jobs. The government rewards that service with free medical care and the admiration of the country, except for those deranged lunatics at Westboro Baptist Church. We civilians have a right to equal representation and accountability, whereas this story seems to imply that a veteran doesn’t have to answer to conventional standards. It’s most likely sour grapes and the charges are no doubt grapevine gossip which goes on everywhere.
Get a grip lady. Just because you are a vet only gives you special treatment on test scores. McDonalds is hiring and I suspect you will not last there either.

I bet that postnaster doesn’t even have a MSDS in her house. Was this before or after the custodian got the express mail out? Using postal cleaning products? Heard all the station only have is water now to clean with? Any other services render? Oral or otherwise? Was it a custodian or another employee crossing craft? After. 6pm? Sunday? Need more info.
Sounds like this Postmaster was on a “WITCH HUNT”!!! Typical management style… How did this Postmaster get this information on this so called crime??? It’s Department of Defense ( Army ) info, not for civilian use. So this Postmaster must’ve spent hours upon hours of hunting for some dirt on this WAR HERO… Give me a break!!!! This PURPLE HEART ( 2x ) VETERAN had to deal with extreme pressure like death, bombs, violence, etc in war and then to come home to civilian life and deal with a UNEDUCATED disrespectful POSTMASTER who probably thinks her shit don’t stink mentality, please, give me a break… This WAR HERO would run circles around this so called POSTMASTER!!!!!!! Every postal employee knows to suck it up in the first ninety days, because mgmt. will use any bogus reason it can find to let you go, if you don’t ‘play ball’. After the ninety days are up, you’re then protected somewhat about leveling the playing field. Work hours are frequently reduced for those who don’t do what the PM wants them to do, on the clock or not. OIG will not help. They go to your boss’s boss and then it comes back on you! Union protection is all you have. MSPB might help, but firing in the first ninety days is almost unwinnable for any reason.

I don’t doubt ANY of Adams’ allegations, because I know how the USPS works. Upper managment sets unrealistic expectations and the “crap picks up speed rolling down hill.” So much so that it gets to a point that PMs and supervisors have to resort to underhanded, unethical and even illegal tactics as a matter of self preservation. Probably the reason Adams was fired was because the PM couldn’t coerce her into quitting. And maybe she got out of the military because she had done her share in Iraq! Have you?!?
I totally believe this. This has nothing to do with her military service. I have worked for the PO for over 30 years and have seen the best and the worst. I have had postmasters that have used these tactics many times. I worked for a postmaster that was the reason for the Royal Oak shooting! You two may have not had to experience this but I have. I don’t see that where I am now, but that is probably because my postmaster is a man. Women bosses are the worst. And Im a woman!
I agree with Jim. All companies have good and bad. Working for someone else it is always easy to point a finger and cry foul. Makes me wonder why she got out of the military in the first place.
that is total BS. When people get fired for not being able to do the job they were hired for, or for lying on the application they always want to strike back at the company that fired them. Take it like a grown up and quit using your military as a way to get attention. The post office has hired veterans and they have retired from the postal service. Just because you could not take it don’t go blaming everybody else. Go back to the military and see if they will take you back.I am sure they will not put up with your crying either.
