Video: Letter carrier robbed at gunpoint in Detroit

A letter carrier was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon while on the job. His cell phone, money and mail delivery truck was stolen.

The vehicle was discovered nearby in the neighborhood. The suspect was locating with the help of residents, and the stolen cell phone was also used which helped lead authorities to the suspect. The individual was found blocks away from where the mail truck was found.

  1. Delivering mail in the dark…in the snow…in the rain…in the cold or heat and now this. I am so upset at maneement’s failure to provide safe working environments for these mailmen. This would never happen at FedEx or UPS!

  2. Time to arm letter carriers the same way they used to arm the old postal workers that rode the rails with postal shipments. Would also make for a more civil exchange every morning with the supervisor. “Any downtime today? No? Okay then, have a nice day.”
