CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -It’s no secret the U.S. Postal Service is losing money, and cutting back.
Now, how do you feel when we tell you local postal workers say your mail is being intentionally delayed?
And it’s not to save money.
Five of them speak out, in an I-Team special report.
Are you worried about losing your job, we ask the postal worker we’ll call Walker, whose identity we are concealing. He works at the Cape Girardeau Mail Processing plant.
I am, he responds. I’m very worried about losing my job.
So, why is he speaking out?
He said your mail is being delayed on purpose
It happens every day, everywhere. Done by mgmt. to meet numbers that affect their bonuses… Guess employees working in offices targeted for closure wouldn’t dream of intentionally delaying mail or heaven forbid sabotaging equipment to sway “things”in their favor. That would only happen in Staples! The entitled urbanite postal employee will always point the finger in management’s direction. Wonder what would happen if there was no management…only employees and the union to run the place? What would happen? Right…the entitled urbanites would point the finger at whomever was directing traffic why…cause they need a bad guy to divert attention from their lazy ass malingering selves…that’s why!
I am new to commenting here but I do not trust managers or trouble maker types who read these posts to not try to identify and harass those who are only voicing opinions and risking their careers by trying to get somebody’s attention of some of the wrongdoing going on in the USPS. Look at the poor fellow in St. Louis trying to warn of a possible carbon monoxide leak to managers who refused to listen and branded him a terrorist and troublemaker, and then fired him because he went to OSHA. He’s back, but the hurt still stays. And this story of deliberate delaying of mail comes from where? St. Louis again. Hmmmm.
I am not attacking any supervisor or manager just because they are in management. There are good and bad ones, just like in craft. We must however, be willing to deal with bad employees regardless of position fairly and not punish whistleblowers who are only trying to help right a wrong. How mean is it to slander somebody trying to keep people from breathing carbon monoxide?
I recommend some of you who haven’t changed your user name do so frequently just in case. I won’t use one more than two or three times.
Is mail being delayed ? That’s a question ?

They pad the mail volume numbers for the same reason.
Right now volume is at the normally low volumes for summer. Most people will not notice mail being late. What a few weeks, with mail volume picking up to more normal volume and the economy picking up steam, mail will be noticeably slower. There have been rumors for sometime that Denver had trailers full of mail sitting in their parking lot. The plant manager there was just forced to retire with no official announcement as to why.
Losing money? Hardly.
Postmasters ordering mail to be delayed? YES!! Every “downtown postmaster” in this country is ordering mail to be left behind at branch stations to allow carriers to hit streets earlier and carry extra off of other routes. It is legal to delay bulk mail for up to two days at which time it is considered first class. However, they are delaying some bulk mail beyond a week to create this “extra time”. It is ILLEGAL, but the arrogance of postal “leadership” knows no bounds. The carriers have no say in the matter and the supervisors who are forced to implement these illegal practices have no say in the matter either. When the boom comes down, you can bet it will be the carriers and supervisors that take the fall and the arrogant decision makers who are preventing us from doing our jobs will be unscathed!! We still have catalogues in our office from one particular Swedish retailer that arrived ten days ago and might very well be delayed into next week. These became first class last Wednesday, but downtown postmaster says leave them sit. Remember, all we have to offer is SERVICE!! – Sly Black.
Self-serving saboteurs…that’s what I think! Hope the OIG get your ass!
