(November 9, 2014) A truck driver crawled out of the window of his tractor-trailer unscathed after falling dozens of feet into an embankment Sunday morning.

Bodgan Vukovic, 57, of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, was driving a privately owned tractor trailer carrying mail south on Route 61 in Hamburg when the accident occurred, according to Hamburg police Officer Robert A. Mengle.

“There was a deer in the roadway and he swerved,” Mengle said. “He hit Bambi anyway and went down the embankment.”

“Miraculously, the driver crawled out of the truck,” Mengle said. “He was walking and talking. The cab of the truck was squashed down to the motor and he only had a scratch on his nose.”

The truck was hauling u-s mail from Harrisburg to the Reading facility for processing. The mail will be reprocessed in Harrisburg and then sent back to Reading. As a result, some residents will likely experience a delays in delivery.
