September 21, 2015 BOONVILLE, MO When a member of the Mattox family received her fathers remains from the United States Postal Service, she didnt expect the box and its contents to be damaged.
The box came wrapped in plastic, with punctures in the package and her fathers cremation certificate, and the box containing his remains dented and partially opened. Now, Nathan Mattox wants to know why the box containing his father-in-laws remains wasnt handled with care.
We dont want anybody to have to open the box like we did and find out that the remains of your cherished loved one were so disregarded, Mattox said.Mattox said his father-in-law was a U.S. Navy veteran, and was stationed in Guantanamo Bay during the Vietnam War, and his remains are irreplaceable.

One those boxes get to the plant, they’re put into containers so big, we don’t know WHAT they are. Then the conveyor belt runs it to the next container. May be that no human hands even touched it. I always take care when i see them and am sorry this happened smh
There are supposed to be a label “cremated remains” on the Express Mail box. I do not see those in the the pics? The mailing office should be notified of that memo!
Couple things wrong here. That is a flat rate express box so it should have been 44.95 secondly I can see that they were charged for a non flat rate express. Also where is the cremated remains sticker that is required? ! So as sorry as I am about what happened it was not processed or handled properly at the counter. So when it became damaged later on it WAS handled properly. BY being placed into a body bag and sent on. Sorry pun not intended I don’t remember er the real name of that bag that’s what we call them.
