While most people in northern and mid-Michigan are hunkered down inside during the harsh, snowy conditions, many people are forced to brave the elements.

Some mail carriers for the U.S. Postal Service got a head start Wednesday to try and beat the storm.

“I have about 690 houses, 690 deliveries,” says U.S. Postal Service mail carrier Jon Conley

People like Jon still have to brave the conditions, and do what they can to make it as easy as possible.

“We only have two wheel drive vehicles,” says Jon. “So you just have to take your time and be careful and drive defensively. You want to be safe and make sure you keep your windshield clean.”

The postal service gives mail carriers tools to help in extreme conditions.
