Video: Package sent USPS containing thousands of childhood pictures goes missing

missing picturesThe package got to the Bay Area, but it never got to his house. Whether it’s man or machine, Brian Cooper says there’s a delivery problem with the US Postal Service. Now, right before the holiday rush, USPS is looking into his complaint.

Cooper moved to the Bay Area about a year ago from Georgia, and is homesick. His mom tried to cheer him up by sending him thousands of pictures from his childhood.

“Not every picture is on an iPhone,” Cooper said.

According to the USPS tracking number record, it took four days to reach California from Georgia.

That package was set to arrive October 24th, but it never made it. In fact, it supposedly never left the Richmond distribution facility.
Cooper says online message boards show hundreds of other people have experienced similar problems with the Richmond [Bulk Mail Center] site.
Ruiz says the USPS will investigate to see if there’s a trend.

  1. I believe all the BMC’s (NDC’s) are all the same. If a package comes in damaged or obvious pieces are orphaned from a package they are thrown into a container to go to dead letter office. No or little attempt is made to reunite broken open parcels from missing pieces. This should be a public service address message to indicate what the contents of the package are/were on a message iinside the parcel. Missing pieces could be reunited before sent on to dead letter. Video tapes is a good example. If they are found loose in mail they are just all tossed into one container and dead letter office ends up with them. End up sold as a lot without much effort to find owner.
