ST. PETERSBURG — Police were searching Tuesday for a man who robbed the U.S. Postal Service office in downtown St. Petersburg on Monday.
Police said a man entered the building, 76 Fourth Street N, at about 4:15 p.m. He asked for a book of stamps and while the clerk was ringing him up, he slid a newspaper across the counter with a note on it that indicated he was committing a robbery. The man then said he was armed and was given cash.
