ATLANTA — Someone messed up at the post office, and it upset a lot of seniors at an Atlanta retirement community. Christmas packages destined for Marines in Afghanistan were left sitting in a mail center in Atlanta for about three months.

“It’s very disappointing,” said Jim Waldrop, executive director of the King’s Bridge Retirement Community Center in Atlanta.

On Veterans Day, seniors at the center put together 125 care packages for Marines in Afghanistan. They were put in the mail Nov. 12, went to Chicago, but were sent back a week later because of incomplete customs forms.
