O’FALLON, Mo. (KSDK) – They deliver in the snow, rain, heat and the darkness of night, but this latest round of weather is making it tough for postal carriers to deliver on that promise. It couldn’t come at a worse time, with packages and cards being shipped all across the country.
The biggest problem spots in this latest round of winter weather include O’Fallon, Mo., Lake St. Louis and Dardenne Prairie. That area saw more than eight inches of snow over the weekend and at night when temperatures drop, slushy streets turn into dangerous, slick streets and mail carriers there couldn’t get to where they needed to go. ”
The timing was horrible,” said Karla Rose, the USPS Area One Manager. She manages the post office in O’Fallon. She says mail carriers faced some serious challenges Saturday, Sunday and Monday. She says the ice and snow slowed things down and the packages keep piling up.
