Postal Hunger Strikers Occupy Congressman Darrel Issa’s Washington DC Office
Postal hunger strikers occupied Congressman Darrel Issa’s Washington DC office on December 20, 2012 resulting in the arrest of Former Carrier and Retired Staten Island Mailhandler John Dennie. The activists (including Dennie, Rockville MD NALC Branch 3825 President Ken Lerch, Retired Portland, OR Carrier Jaimie Partridge, Retired San Francisco, CA Carrier David Welsh and Anaheim, CA APWU Local 917 Maintenance Director Kevin Cole) feared harmful postal reform legislation would be passed during the lame duck session. The emergency encampment and six day hunger strike was intended to preserve six day delivery. The film ended when Issa slapped the camera out of the hands of hunger striker Cole.
